Dear Blog,
So I have been playing Sims 3 A LOT still, lol and figured I'd do a quick post about a couple of the things I have discovered! My main sim, the one who accidentally had 7 babies at once and crashed my game after a birthday cake fiasco, I managed to copy into a new town that isn't bugged out. She still had all her stuff, her skills and her pictures, which I was happy about, so I have continued working on some of the photography challenges. I had been to Egypt a lot, and so I collected enough Canopic Jars and had put together a Sarcophagus of Kings with the 5 fragments I had discovered while exploring a couple tombs. The engraving on the Canopic Jars says that 5 of them placed within a sarcophagus would allow a mummy to join my household, so I tried it! Sure enough, it worked! (*Note: If you have 5 jars, but it won't let you summon, try placing them on your lot, then back into your inventory!)
So I had fun with the mummy for a while, she doesn't ever need to sleep or use the toilet, but she does need to eat, shower, get social and have fun. I tried a few different times with a few of my different sarcophagus, and 4 out of 5 of them were always female. I don't know if that was just a fluke, or if the majority of summonable mummys are female.
Eventually I got tired of my mummy and decided it was time to get my "doubly dead" photograph, which is a picture of a ghost that was once a mummy. It's very easy to kill a mummy, all they have to do is light a fire in a fireplace and they burst into flames, so as long as they are blocked from extinguishing themselves (I used a fence) they die in only 30 (in game) minutes. So she died and the grim reaper showed up and I got my picture for my Paranormal Challenge. Please forgive the failness of this pic, it's a screenshot of a in game photograph, because I didn't think to take a screeny as well as a photograph! *duh*
Turning A Mummy Back Into A Living Sim:
All you need to do for this is get your mummy to sleep for a few days in a sarcophagus! I found out by mistake after getting tired of my mummy and hiding her away in the sarcophagus to sleep until I wanted to play with her again (their stats do not decrease while they are asleep). Then one of my babies had a birthday party, so the mummy came out to party, and after her long sleep, the sarcophagus restored her life.
Bringing A Dead Sim Back To Life:
There may be easier ways to do this, but this is how I managed to bring my sim back to life. First I got the opportunity "Oh My Ghost" to bring the remains of a loved one to the science facility. I just happened to have some dead family in my inventory, so I figured I'd see what would happen. They ended up making the character playable, but she was still a ghost. I had heard that ambrosia could make a sim come back to life if they ate it, and my character had already learned the recipe. The hard part is getting the life fruit and deathfish needed to make it. The life fruit I had from when I harvested it in one of the last rooms of the Great Pyramid in Egypt, so just had to catch a deathfish. I just fished anywhere (Beach, Crystal Springs) until my fishing was high enough to use other fish as bait, then I used the Red Herring as bait at Crystal Springs and fished up a few Angel Fish. Then I went to the cemetery and used the Angel Fish as bait between 1am and 5am, and eventually caught myself some deathfish. The following is the video of my dead sim coming back to life after eating the ambrosia.
*Please Note! If you plan on growing the life fruit yourself with gardening, once you reach 10 gardening and 9 fishing, your sim will not be able to fish at all anymore. This is an annoying bug, but can be avoided by having another sim do your fishing, or by finding the life fruit in the Great Pyramid and not getting the gardening skill. Hopefully they will fix this soon!
I hope this helps some people, and as I figure out more things or encounter more irritating bugs, I will post!
